Accepting payments that require Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

Under the PSD2 regulations act, all EU payment gateways on Resova support Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). Customers in the EU must now authenticate payments for purchases, through methods such as '3D secure' and confirmation via text message.

Note: Payment gateways on Resova are automatically updated to support Strong Customer Authentication, Our customers do not need to take any other action.

Customers making card payments from the booking site

Card payments made by customers on the booking site will be prompted automatically through our supported gateways to authenticate payments, if applicable. This service is automated with payment gateways integrated with Resova.

Accepting card payments on behalf of customers through the dashboard

When accepting card payments over the phone or in-store, by default, payments do not require strong customer authentication. However, selected customer banks may still require authentication from the customer and will decline card payments. Resova will notify team members of declined card payments as a result of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) needed.

To make accepting payments for customer purchases simple, we have options available for customers to authenticate payments by:

  • Payment on Arrival (accept POS payments such as cash or using a third-party card terminal)
  • Payment by Invoice (provide instructions for customers to pay with card via a link or other methods such as bank transfer)
  • Payment request (send a payment request email to customers to pay for purchases from the booking site)

To learn more, see our guide on accepting payments on arrival, by invoice or via a payment link for new transactions.
